RECENT INCIDENTS IN MY LOVE LIFE #2 by Lucy Baker
We sit down at a banquette (French, I assume, for the pairing of a coffee table and a velvet bench), and survey the scene. Most of the people look like they came straight from work, even though it's after 11 o'clock. The men have loosened the collars on their business suits, and the women are letting their power pumps slip off their heels seductively. I notice a girl gyrating against the stair banister like it is some kind of miniature pole. This guy sits down next to me and says hello. Even though he's sitting too close I say hi back and smile. He has a British accent and I'm feeling pretty drunk, like everything might actually be alright, as long as the music keeps playing. Then he leans over and whispers right in my ear, so I can feel his lips against my hair, "I bet you're the horniest girl in here." And I'm just like, "What?" REALLYSMALL PHOTO
