TESTING HARVARD

by Kim Bosch

ME:

Hello! I am an international student coming to Harvard in the fall. I have some questions about living on campus. First, can I tell you how excited I am to come to Harvard!

Second, am I allowed to bring hotplates to use in my dorm room?

Your happy Canadian Neighbour,

k. minor

REPLY:

Hi K. Minor, I'm afraid hotplates are not allowed in the dorm rooms. Sorry.

Best,
D.

ME:

Hi D.,

Thanks for answering my question. Can I ask, are we allowed to bring pets? I have a Northern Canadian Muskrat (tamed) named Pete can I have him in residence with me?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions,

kim

REPLY:

Sorry, Kim, Pete can't come and we don't have any kind of animal housing facilities.

Best,
D.

ME:

NUTS! Now I have to find someone who wants a Muskrat!

Ok here's another question, am I allowed to bring a Canadian flag? I heard that any "non American" flags were not recommended. Is this true? I know these questions are stupid but I don't want to get there and have to throw things away because I can't have them.

REPLY:

Hi Kim, As far as I know, there shouldn't be a problem if you bring a Canadian flag. I haven't heard anything about flags.

Take care,
D.

What furniture is included in my room? I would like to bring my Kueen bed. This, I am not sure if you have them in the U.S of A., is between the size of a queen and king bed. Can I bring this?

thanks for all your patience,
kim

Are you an incoming freshman or an upperclassman?

ME:

I am an incoming freshman.

REPLY:

Please contact the freshman dean's office to find out what's included in your room at ***@***.harvard.edu.

take care,
d.

ME:

Hello Freshman Deans Office, I was bumped (a little rudely) over to you guys by D. I have some questions about housing and what I can bring next year. My last question to her was regarding my Kueen Bed [see attached message]

Also, upon looking at the website I see that there is information regarding the length of the provided SHEETS being that of an "extra long twin bed." However I do not see anything about pillowcases. Will the pillows be extra long? Will I need to buy a pillowcase that is extra long? I know these are silly questions but as I said previously to D. I don't want to get there and have to throw things away.

thanks for your patience, kim

REPLY:

Hi Kim, The pillow size is twin. Not a silly question, it is better to know in advance!
