NOT AS GLAMOROUS AS IT SOUNDS

A few weeks ago, I went out to Hollywood to perform at a stand-up comedy showcase. It was my first visit to L.A. -- my first time in California, to be honest. I didn’t see any famous celebrities, but I did meet a guy. We shared a shuttle van from LAX to our hotels. Andrew was from New York City. It was his first time in California, too. His sister had gotten their family on the game show Family Feud. This sister of his was really into game shows, he said. I told him I’d never in all of my life been so happy to be an only child. He thought for several moments, then said, “You should put that in your act.” He didn't laugh or anything. Just suggested that I mention on stage how I was glad not to have any brothers or sisters. "It's hilarious," he said. Soon after that, the shuttle let Andrew off at his hotel. I wished him luck. He was going to need it.
